Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The FSSAI has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 which is a consolidating statute related to food safety and regulation in India. FSSAI is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.

Food safety in general means the food which is being consumed is safe and it doesn’t contain any kind of contamination in it and technically it is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation containing all the additives in the prescribed limit as per FSSAI guidelines and storage of food.

Hazard analysis and critical control points, or HACCP, is a systematic preventive approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe and designs measures to reduce these risks to a safe level.

REGULATORY Enforcement is the process of ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, rules, standards, or social norms. By enforcing laws and regulations, governments attempt to effectuate successful implementation of policies.

FSMS means the adoption of GMP, GHP,HACCP and other such practices to be followed by FOOD MANUFACTURER to ensure food safety. The FSMS programme helps us to ensure that food is safe for human consumption.
